Join us for the first of two classic programmes on God’s righteousness as the power and foundation of our salvation (Rom. 1:16-17). Christ as the eternal Son of God in the Godhead was designated (marked out), as the first-born son of God in His resurrection, paving the way for His many sons to follow Him in this designation (Rom. 1:3-4, 8:29). This mysterious and very practical aspect of the gospel of God in Romans is our focus on this week’s highlight programme. In our second programme on this topic, we will see how God according to his righteousness was able to cover the sins of His people in the Old Testament and forgive the sins of His New Testament believers (Rom. 3:21-26). God’s righteous requirements have been fulfilled through Christ’s redemptive death. His righteousness is the foundation for us to approach God to be forgiven of our sins, and the source of our eternal security.
