10 UK Gospel Musicians that Massively Influenced Mainstream Music

Gospel music is a well loved genre that has influenced the sound of many mainstream artists. There are many UK gospel singers and musicians who have established strong connections to chart-topping musicians.

 

These members of the UK gospel family have worked alongside artists including Lauryn Hill, Blue, Simply Red and Tina Turner.  They have produced music, featured on national tours and contributed to the creative success of music in popular culture.

 

From Nicky Brown to Andrew Small, here are 10 Christian musicians and the mainstream artists that theyve worked with and greatly influenced.

 

1. Velroy Bailey

Velroy Bailey has worked with a huge number of artists including M-People, Blue and Simply Red. Velroy has also worked with Westlife, one of Irelands most successful boy bands who have racked up 14 number one UK singles.

 

2. Andrew Smith

Westlife, Blue and Lisa Stansfield are among some of the artists that Andrew Smith has worked with. Andrew also worked with The Fugees megastar Lauryn Hill.

3. Samantha Smith

Samantha Smith has worked with Erasure and Depeche Mode as well as chart topper Plan B. Plan B had several major hits including the track She Said from 2010 that landed at number three in the UK chart.

 

4. Jerry Brown

Jerry Brown has worked with Damage, Paul Young and Jessica Simpson. Jerry also worked with British-Norwegian boyband A1 - the group had eight UK top 10s including two number ones titled Same Old Brand New You and Take On Me.

Janet Jackson and Levine Hudson are among the iconic artists that Joel Campbell has worked with. Joel also worked with eight-time Grammy winner Tina Turner - Tina was also recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
