Christians and sex has always been a point of discussion however recently, after a video by a young engaged couple was posted online went viral, the topic of purity caused a stir and had people asking all kinds of questions. Does virginity matter if you've already crossed sexual lines? What is purity? Why wait until marriage to have sex anyways?
To help shed some light on the topic Cassandra Maria had a chat with one of Nigerias most influential pastors, Pastor Kingsley Okwnoko and they touched on some important messages throughout the discussion.
Cassandra asked the pastor what exactly is virginity when it comes to the word of God? The Oxford English Dictionary defines virginity first as a mode of life characterized by 'abstinence from or avoidance of all sexual relations,” second as “the natural or normal condition of an unmarried woman,” and third as the “state of being virgin, fresh, or new with its accompanying virtue of integrity, innocence, and inexperience.'

But does this mean men can't lose their virginity, or virginity means not ever being in contact with anyone sexually, no matter how far you may have gone? Pastor Kingsley had an answer: "God is not marking how far you go, it doesn't matter if you've just smooched or gone all the way, God wants us to be sexually pure in all areas, even our mind."
The pair also discussed whether we should judge people on their sexual history to which pastor Kingsley said: "if it's in the past and the person has changed it shouldn't matter to a genuine Christian. If someone is making a fuss about it that person is not for you."
