Bake Off's Selasi announces support for Christian charity

Selasi, who was brought up going to church, came to the UK from Ghana when he was 15.

He said: "I have always tried to help charities - in particular those focused on children - so I'm looking forward to supporting World Vision UK to help vulnerable kids living in the world's harshest places."

World Vision UK says it's keen to harness Selasi's skills and affection for Africa in its work, which includes delivering relief in drought-hit Somalia or working with victims of child soldier recruitment in the Central African Republic.

Selasi was evicted from Great British Bake Off 2016 in the semi-finals after his pastries were found be to be undercooked.

One of his most famous creations during the series was a stained glass gingerbread church - a nod to his church-going days.

Great British Bake Off's Selasi Gbormittah is to become an ambassador for the Christian charity World Vision UK.
