Have you ever wondered why stars only come out at night? Don't wonder anymore! God wants you to shine especially brightly. Esther was about to shine. She had a problem, and you do when you're married to an unbeliever. God divides the light from the darkness; He hangs the stars in the sky, and it's sort of all dark up there.
Here was God himself walking around in a Jewish body, the God who had made those rules, that had made those statements, that had told us what He thought about stepping outside, for example into adultery, facing an adulteress, literally face to face with an adulteress. What did He do? How did He react? What did He say?
Have you ever met somebody who has lived in a palace, and the husband decided he'd like somebody else, swapped her for a younger model or a more beautiful model, or whatever reason, or whatever case? Have you ever seen that lady who is used to living in a beautiful home, leave, no rights, no recourse, never to see the king's face again. Yes, we can bring this story right down to where we are! Terrible suffering that was going on, and of course, all of us have got counsellors around like Memucan's too.
How does God reach out of our lives into the lives of others? Esther, the woman in the unbelieving environment, the woman in the world. Esther, herself, is a great example of somebody thrust by circumstances into a situation of her day and age into a situation where she really didn't have much option. She had to either state who she was, and whom she served, and reach out and become that 'stream of light' into the darkness.
