Sanctification

In this conversation we explore our call to what Richard Mouw termed ‘holy worldliness’ – being saved for the sake of the world, rather than escaping from our missional frontlines. Getting first things first, spiritual practices start to make sense as essential to who we are and what we’re called to do in our everyday lives, serving Christ as Lord of all.

Formation

So we’re saved to serve … but what’s the process of becoming the image of Christ? How can we be transformed from glory to glory, to reflect our saviour and declare God’s glorious praises? It’s no quick fix of instantaneous and spectacular identity change. But God’s grace is given to complete our human nature, through Spirit-empowered habit formation embedded into the stuff of our everyday life.

Mission (Mission Spirituality)

So our mission is fuelled by a kind of mysticism, or dynamic encounter with God, and our spiritual formation is shaped by and aimed toward mission. But how do we bring these together, in synergy, where our being and doing harmonise? This conversation we get practical, looking at ways of bringing spiritual discipline beyond the church building and outside your private life, to happen in public, on your missional frontline.

Ethics

There’s no space for isolated issues and single-political platforms characterised more by what we stand against than what we stand for. Rather, we’re called to seek wholeness – an outworking of our inner holiness – in the whole of life, every sphere, as a sign of a world set right. That’s what we mean by ‘ethics’ – finding the right fitting thing to do in broken places and strange times like ours.
