Rabbi Mendy Chitrik is the Rabbi of the Ashkenazi Jewish community of Turkey. In 2019 Chitrik founded and became chairman of the Alliance of Rabbis in Islamic States (ARIS). It's the first rabbinic network based in the Muslim world, connecting 45 rabbis across 14 countries.
He is a recognisable name in Jewish-Muslim interfaith dialogue and is known for the implementation of Kosher standards in factories across Turkey. In 2021 he met with President Erdogan speaking to him about how Jews and Muslims can coexist peacefully.
He is a champion of Jewish heritage in muslim countries and has travelled extensively to document the legacy of his faith across Turkey in Cappadocia, Antakya and Harran.
